Wow, that's great! It's wonderful that someone made this amazing blog. Please check this another wonderful site that defined "the prophet" for the modern era. This has made his journey unique: a journey that has taken his inspired message to schools and colleges, churches and synagogues, alleyways and prison cells.

Hi.. I recently read Accidental Billionaires and it got me thinking. What is more valuable for a software company (like facebook). 1,000 paying users or 100,000 non-paying users? What are your thoughts? View my blog post here: http://www.purlem.com/blog/?p=57

I LOVED this book. I found it a fascinating read from the people perspective. It reminded me of other books like ' A Fine Balance', but more cheerful. I would have been sorry to miss this book.

Hi Micah-
Every time I think of my visit with you, I think of how I really must get going and read the Warriors! Judging by how you describe these books, I'm thinking you might also enjoy Tad Williams' "Tailchaser's Song" (I'm not sure if this link will work... ) Also, have you read "Firebringer"? (Clement-Davies). I agree with Mme. Alexander that you might enjoy "The Mob" - it's quite good (I think there are three out now). Ben Gadd did a book called "Raven's End" - I really liked the setting (in the Rocky Mountains not far from where I grew up in Banff). And, as you can imagine, I always like to support Canadian authors!
Hope all is well with you -
Cheers,
Nikki

Micah you have convinced me to read this book! You have written such an exciting synopsys of the story. Keys that control things sounds cool to me especially if I was the one who had the keys. I wish you had included the author's name so I could find the book with greater ease. I will look for the next one in the series for you as well.

Micah, I agree with pretty much everything you said! I'm not sure if I want those keys -they seem DANGEROUS! I like the characters, and I like how different the world is from ours! I'm really glad you made me read that book! I'll take your recommendation anytime! Mom

These sound great. If you like this type of story, we have a book called "The Mob" in our library. It is about the migration of crows. All of the characters are crows taking part in the journey. I have read some of it and find it very interesting so far.
We missed you at book club yesterday. I am trying to find some suggestions of French titles to interest you.

Hi Liam
I finished
by Maureen Fergus
Laugh, I thought I'd die! It was a truely funny novel. Fergus has caught how the mind of a werid, self-centered teenage boy works. He is so rude and sarcastic. Often in hurtful ways. He certainly doesn't think of others. The author has written a character who is edgy, quirky, outrageous, and hilarious.

One thing that didn't ring true was that it didn't seem totally set in the present. The lesbian aunt and her crusading crew were definately now. But the fact that the boys are trading magazines for dirty pictures? What do I know maybe it does still happen?

Reading this book has help me see the power of reading aloud. So often in the family and at work I am the reader. This time though Mom was reading and I took the time to listen. It was so much more funny when it was read aloud. Even little bits -- when I would chuckle while I was reading in bed then I would read it to Bev I would laugh longer because we were both laughing.

Now when he was giving him self hickies with his mother's breast milk pump--that was laugh out loud! Then he and his friend were practicing strokings women's breasts on the model breast that she used as a lactation consultant to demonstate the pump--LOL!
I don't want to give too many examples to ruin the surprise for others who may read this book because it is a winner. A winner all the way.

Great blog Micah! I really enjoyed this book as well. I haven't had a chance to read Flyte because it is usually signed out of the library. I may have to wait until summer when all of the books are returned!! I look forward to your other book reviews and hearing your reviews of French selections in our book club.

Hi Liam
I enjoyed Bev reading this aloud to us at least the first part. I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of the book so much. I'm excited about reading it too. The book I'm reading is a funny book but not laugh aloud. More it is amusing. It satirizes the babyboomer generation and what this generation is leaving behind in the US. I' enjoying it.

Hi Micah what an excellent post! Your summary brought the whole book back to me. It was a good read but I must disagree about the Kenneth Oppal books. His books about the airship (Airborn and Skybreaker) where truly innovative and exciting, especially Skybreaker where they were trying to get the ghost ship before the thieves. Oppel’s bat series left me cold. As an adult I don’t like books that have animals as characters.

Wow Micah, what a great blog about your book! I feel like I really would like to read it now! I really like the term 'to no avail' ! Good use of language!

I'm reading a REALLY good book now, although it's a book for adults. It takes place in an unnamed Central American country, where a whole village has pooled their money to send a boy your age to the City after his mom has died. It's interesting to see this child from the jungle adjusting to the city and seeing some of his beliefs. His character isn't as developed as I would like to see, but there are other interesting things about this story.

I’m reading a REALLY good book now, although it’s a book for adults. It takes place in an unnamed Central American country, where a whole village has pooled their money to send a boy your age to the City after his mom has died. It’s interesting to see this child from the jungle adjusting to the city and seeing some of his beliefs. His character isn’t as developed as I would like to see, but there are other interesting things about this story.

Hi Micah! It sounds like you love that series - what is it that appeals to you so much? Are they even better than Kenneth Opel's books?

Did you notice that there is a contest to enter at McNally Robinson around Kenneth Opel?

I'm reading an interesting junior novel right now, Micah. It's about a boy who's brother has just shipped out to the war in Afganistan. The young boy is going through typical teen stuff at home - friend trouble, school trouble -but his over-riding concern is over his brother. I'm not finished the novel but I am very afraid his brother is going to be killed. The last email his brother sent was interrupted by a big explosion!

Interestingly, the boy is learning to play piano, and it is his passion! He also finds it consoling. In that way he reminds me of Liam. What would you say your passion is, Micah?

Thanks, Brian, for starting our family blog. Very cool. I just read a novel called 'Traitor', set in WWII. It's about a young girl, Liam's age, 13, who 'accidently' helps a young Russian soldier. She realizes, after her first sympathetic moment, what an incredible risk she has put both herself and her family in - and lives in terror of the Russian being found and traced back to her. The story isn't riveting, but I think it's a good discussion piece.
